have the opportunity to send their children to receive a great private Christian Education here at
The Christian School at Castle Hills.
An Education Freedom Account (EFA) provides parents of students in non-public Texas schools a publicly-funded, government-authorized savings account with restricted, but multiple, uses for their children’s education. The EFA program will be administered on behalf of the State by Odyssey, the program administrator selected by the Comptroller.
The state has budgeted $1 billion, which will serve around 70,000 students.
This is the first year in which funding is provided but is limited. The more who apply this year will demonstrate the demand of this program in the state and inspire legislators to increase funding to meet that demand.
There are many states who have gone through this process before us and who now fund all interested families regardless of their income levels. It is the hope of our government leaders to do the same, but they need all families who are interested to apply this year.
Participants choosing a private school receive estimated to be around $10,000-$12,000. A child with a disability and an individualized education program (IEP) may receive up to $30,000, according to the amount the child’s school district would receive if the child were enrolled in public school, based on that child’s IEP. Participants for the program for the first year, will be chosen in a tiered process with each tier possibly being by lottery.
